ARK ArkPak 730 Pure Sine – 12V Portable Battery Box with 300W Pure Sine Inverter & Smart Charger

Most portable power boxes are just that — a box with a socket. The ARK ArkPak 730 Pure Sine (AP730P) is something else entirely. Designed and patented in Australia by a company that's been engineering towing and power products for over 40 years, the ArkPak is a complete portable power station, battery management system, and dual-battery alternative in one unit. Drop in your own battery, and you have a fully self-contained 12V power hub that charges from mains, your vehicle, or solar — and delivers clean 240V pure sine wave power, 12V accessory outlets, USB, and a 50A Anderson socket wherever you park. Whether you're running a CPAP machine at a remote campsite, powering camera and drone gear on a film shoot, or setting up a worksite far from the nearest GPO, the AP730P is the most capable portable power solution in its class.

Pure Sine Wave — The Right Kind of Power for Sensitive Electronics

This is the defining upgrade of the AP730P over the standard ArkPak 730. The 300W pure sine wave inverter produces the same smooth, clean AC waveform you get from your home's mains supply — not the stepped, modified wave output of cheaper inverters. This matters enormously for sensitive electronics:

  • CPAP and Bi-PAP machines — many respiratory devices require pure sine power to run correctly and safely. The AP730P makes it possible to run them off-grid without issues
  • Laptops and computers — power supplies in modern laptops are fussy; modified sine wave can cause overheating, buzzing, and reduced efficiency
  • Cameras, drones, and studio gear — battery chargers and sensitive electronics run better and charge faster on pure sine
  • Fluorescent and LED lighting — pure sine eliminates the flicker and buzzing that modified sine wave inverters cause with some lighting types

300W continuous output with a 600W spike capacity handles a wide range of real-world devices — just steer clear of high-draw appliances like kettles, toasters, and hair dryers which exceed the inverter's output.

Built-In AC-DC and DC-DC Charger — The Only Battery Box That Does Both

The ArkPak AP730P is the only battery box on the market with both an AC-DC charger (from 240V mains) and a DC-DC charger (from your 12V or 24V vehicle) built in as standard. You don't need a separate charger, a separate DC-DC unit, or a wall adapter — it's all inside. Charge options include:

  • 240V mains — plug in at home, a caravan park, or a powered campsite via the included AC/DC adaptor
  • 12V/24V vehicle DC — plug into your car, ute, or truck via the included car charging lead while you drive between sites
  • Solar panels — connect via the external battery terminals or Anderson socket with an external voltage regulator (not included)
  • External charger or DCDC unit — via the external terminals or Anderson socket, bypassing the internal smart charger

7-Stage Smart Charger — Intelligent Battery Management

The ArkPak doesn't just charge your battery — it manages it intelligently. The onboard microcomputer runs a 7-stage smart charging cycle that adapts to your specific battery chemistry and capacity, optimising charge rate, extending battery life, and protecting against damage:

  • Stage 1 – Testing: checks battery capacity on startup and predicts time to full charge
  • Stage 2 – Charge: recovers battery to peak voltage
  • Stage 3 – Bulk: holds constant voltage in the period before boost
  • Stage 4 – Boost: 1.5-hour peak charge to reach 100% capacity
  • Stage 5 – Resting: allows the battery to consolidate after boost
  • Stage 6 – Float: maintains battery at 13.5V (13.7V for LiFePO4) for up to 500 hours — safe to leave plugged in indefinitely
  • Stage 7 – Re-Awaken: after 500 hours of float, automatically returns to charge cycle to prevent sulphation

Multi-Chemistry Battery Support — Use What You Have

The AP730P accepts batteries up to 130Ah and works with every major 12V battery chemistry on the market. Select your battery type and capacity on the LCD screen and the ArkPak automatically applies the correct charge profile:

  • Wet / Flooded lead-acid
  • Calcium
  • Gel
  • AGM
  • LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate)

Battery selection is saved in memory — next time you power up with the same battery already connected, the ArkPak goes straight into charging without requiring you to re-enter settings.

Time Tracker Technology — Always Know Where You Stand

The ArkPak's informative LCD display shows battery voltage, charge percentage, current charge stage, and net watts flowing in or out of the battery in real time. The proprietary Time Tracker technology calculates remaining charge time dynamically, accounting for temperature, battery age, and current draw — so you always have a realistic estimate of how long until you're back to full capacity, not just a guess.

Everything You Need at the Panel

The AP730P packs a complete set of outputs into its compact, lockable housing:

  • 1x 240V AC pure sine wave socket — 300W continuous, 600W spike
  • 1x USB outlet — 5V DC, 2.1A for phones, cameras, and GPS devices
  • 2x 12V cigarette/accessory sockets — 10A rated each, for fridges, lights, and accessories
  • 1x 50A Anderson style socket — for high-current accessories or dual battery wiring loom connections
  • 2x External battery terminals — 100A rated, for direct battery connections or external charging sources including solar
  • Manual isolator switch with removable key — isolate all outputs when not in use for safety and battery preservation

Dual Battery System Compatible

The ArkPak can be permanently installed in your vehicle as part of a dual battery setup. Connect the ArkPak to your dual battery wiring loom via the external terminals or the Anderson socket, mount it using the optional mounting kit (ARK Part No. APB20B, sold separately), and you have a fully integrated auxiliary power system with all the benefits of the ArkPak's smart charging and output management. A voltage-sensitive relay or isolator must be used to protect your starter battery — ARK recommends installation by a qualified auto electrician.

Compact, Rugged, and Secure

The ArkPak's moulded housing is designed for the real world — latched lid, carry handle, internal velcro battery strap to keep your battery secure on the move, and a locking isolator switch to prevent accidental discharge. At just 4.62kg without battery, it's genuinely portable. The secure-locking charge leads click in and lock to prevent accidental disconnection on the move — a practical detail that makes a real difference when the ArkPak is bouncing around in the back of a 4x4 on corrugated tracks.
